Thiago Silva on Neymar

“I think that Neymar now has a good level for this competition, he has a different preparation compared to the previous World Cup that he had an injury in 2018. Of course, now with a different preparation without any injury, without any worries we will see a better Neymar. , and the best of all is that he is humble, I think that our group has welcomed all our colleagues and, in my opinion, they make Neymar even more comfortable with us, we will share our responsibilities and I think it will help us move forward.”

Bruno Fernandes on Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Manchester United

“I don’t feel uncomfortable. I don’t have to choose a side. It was a privilege to play in the national team with Ronaldo and in the club it was a dream come true and I always said that. Cristiano has always been an inspiration to me . It was a dream but we know that nothing lasts forever. And now Cristiano has made a decision for his life and his career and we have to respect every decision.”

Wales added rainbow flags to the corners at training

They were one of seven countries blocked from wearing the #OneLove bracelet on Monday. The USMNT also changed the color of their crest around the training facility.

Perhaps FIFA will decide that these also constitute a political symbol…

Lewandowski remains on penalties for Poland

Poland coach Czeslaw Michniewicz said captain Robert Lewandowski will remain on penalties for Poland despite missing out on yesterday’s 0-0 draw against Mexico.

Based on expected saves, the power and placement of his penalty have always seen him score 74 percent of the time.

“No coach tells a player how to score a penalty. Two days ago in training and he did it differently. He made a certain decision during the match but it’s not the end of the world. Lewy knows how to take penalties. That’s why as far as I’m concerned, in case of a possible penalty against Saudi Arabia, there will be no change. Unless it’s Robert’s decision.

Mazraoui is injured for Morocco

Phew. That didn’t seem right. The Bayern Munich defender is one of Morocco’s outstanding players, but he needed to stretch at the hour.

He received treatment a few minutes ago, but fell again. The wound appeared to have been born from his diving head after the clumsy landing. He clutched his right shoulder. It’s not a good sight. Attait-Allah comes to replace Mazraoui in the first change of Morocco.

Can World Cup teams replace injured players?

After a few days of action in Qatar, we have already seen a serious injury, a couple of concussions and a scare for the England captain.

Lucas Hernandez’s World Cup, and arguably his season, was brought to an extremely premature end just 13 minutes into France’s win against Australia. It has been confirmed that in the process of the Socceroos opening the scoring, the Bayern Munich defender suffered a serious knee injury.

But can they be replaced? Ed Mackey explains.

Keylor Navas’ unlikely adventures with Costa Rica: ‘The World Cup changed my life’

Costa Rica is the most successful team in Central American football, and they will start another World Cup campaign later today.

The Athletic Dermot Corrigan spoke to captain Keylor Navas.

“The national team always helped me, even though I wasn’t always playing (at my club),” he says. “I have always been able to perform at a high level for them. Nobody has ever given me anything. I had to show, in every game with the national team, that I deserved to be the starter.

Luis Enrique is a fan of additional extra time

Spain manager Luis Enrique has a Twitch! How young! How liberated!

He’ll be providing updates from there throughout the tournament, and has made some interesting comments about all the added time we’ve seen so far – more than 10 minutes on several occasions.

“I really love all the added time, especially because teams like us who have a lot of possession, we always complain that there is not enough time.

“So I think it’s wonderful to play so much added time in both halves, the most effective time possible (the best). Any team can play as they want, but more quality minutes play better. So I’m very much in favor of this measure , it’s the right thing to do.”

Can Morocco be the top performing African side?

How far can this team go? Some individuals are world class – Hakimi, Mazraoui, Ziyech.

According to The Athletic Jacob Tanswell, so is Sofiane Boufal.

With Senegal losing their opening game, and Tunisia just scrapping against Denmark, this is a real chance for Morocco.
