Honda Rc51 For Sale

Honda Rc51 For Sale – Introduced in the second half of 1999 as a 2000 model year, the Honda RC51 was a massive V-Twin superbike designed to end Ducati’s dominance in production racing. The RC51 featured a powerful, liquid-cooled, 999cc, 90-degree, fuel-injected DOHC V-Twin, mated to a six-speed gearbox and an aluminum alloy double-ended frame. 2002 was when Honda updated the original model (known as the SP1). The second-generation RC51 (or SP2) is a series sought after by Honda’s factory racers, featuring an engine with a longer windshield, longer swingarm, reduced steering angle, stronger but lighter chassis and a few extra ponies.

With around 130 horsepower and a dry weight of 440 pounds, the 999cc V-Twin was good for a top speed of over 165 mph. The RC51 was also significantly more reliable than its Italian twin, making it much more appealing to street riders. It’s not uncommon to find an RC51 with six-figure odometer readings still going strong.

A true racing bike with fairings, the RC51 features competition-grade hardware and components. Even the instruments are configured with a racing-style tachometer, and the rest of the dash is also focused on the track. Honda had impressive results with the “Ducati Killer” in the form of World Superbike Championship titles in 2000 and again in 2002 – the same year the RC51 entered the AMA Championship.

The WSBK titles were nice, but many Honda fans have a soft spot for the 2002 AMA Championship because it was won by Nicky Hayden. Honda celebrated this success in 2004 by producing a series of RC51s that included several cosmetic updates to celebrate Nick’s success. Said changes included Hayden’s red white and silver paint, white plate areas, brushed aluminum frame and swingarm, and of course, the Kentucky Kid’s signature on the tank.

We sold this RC51 (VIN: JH2SC45324M401081) to its current owner 5 months ago but is leaving this bike as he is looking for one of our CBR900RRs to complete his collection.

When the current owner purchased this bike, he replaced many of the extras with a new OEM unit such as the rear shock, windshield, several screws/bolts/clips, reflectors, and rear fender.

Before the seller bought this car, we installed new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires and new fork seals in the Iconic. There are a few small scratches on this RC51 – you’ll find them on the side panel, above the radiator, tail and front fender. There are also scratches on the rear wheel. The seller has included photos of all known cosmetic issues in the album above.

The RC51 is one of our favorite Hondas in history because it looks good, drives great and has a great history. The Nicky Hayden edition bike is even better, and this bike has the kind of changes that will make anyone want to dramatically increase the small number currently on the odometer.

RC51s are often replaced with tail fairings, mounting badges, and aftermarket exhausts, but since this bike comes from the dealer, it’s stock. It has just 6,812 miles and is covered in rare black/silver/red paint with black wheels. The pictures show a few scratches – rear wheel, swingarm, left front bend and tail. Additionally, one of the front right fender mounting brackets has been removed – if you choose to replace the bracket, we’ll include the appropriate bolt. The registration has expired, but the seller has agreed to cover the renewal fees/penalties if the buyer keeps the bike registered in California.

It was built by Honda to prove that Honda can beat Ducati on the track using a V-Twin.

The engine is a 999cc double overhead cam V-twin unit with two fuel injectors and four valves per cylinder. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a close-ratio six-speed gearbox. The chassis is made of aluminum alloy, which is a double-decker design.

The RC51 is a racing superbike that adapts gear changes for street use. Factory RC51s are specially designed for top speed performance.

The RC51 was developed by Honda’s racing teams as a bike to be used in the World Superbike Championship.

2000–2001 models are called SP1, and 2002–2006 models SP2 (the latter has updated fuel injection and suspension systems).

1988–2002 In 1988, new superbike racing rules allowed V-twin engines up to 999 cc to compete. Before the rule change, 750cc four-cylinder motorcycles were the dominant force in production competition. In the first two years of the World Superbike Championship, Honda won the series with the 750cc V-4 engined RC30. But in 1990, Raymond Roche won Ducati’s first world title with the Ducati 851. Over the next 11 years, Ducati won 8 World Superbike championships with its V-twins (Honda won two, Kawasaki only one).

Honda was unable to win consistently, especially due to the competitive advantage of V-twins over Honda’s V-4. In 2000, Honda introduced the RC51, powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled V-twin. That year he won the World Superbike Championship with Colin Edwards riding for Castrol. Ducati regained the title in 2001, but with the RC51
